Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)On 23rd December 1993, the Prime Minister announced the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in the Parliament. The MPLADS is a plan scheme fully funded by the Government of India. The annual MPLADS fund entitlement per MP constituency is Rs. 5 crore.
The objective of this scheme is to enable MPs to recommend works of developmental nature based on the needs of the constituents, with emphasis on the creation of durable community assets.
Every MP may recommend work up to the annual entitlement during the financial year in a specified format to the concerned District Authority. The District Authority is responsible for getting the works executed as per the established procedure of the State Government.
In recommending MPLADS projects, YS Chowdary’s focus has been on improving drinking water supply through tube-wells, strengthening educational infrastructure and building sports infrastructure in ponnavaram. An update of projects being undertaken is provided below.
Work is progressing at a rapid pace in my adopted model village of Ponnavaram in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
We are building cement and concrete roads across the village – over 30 feet wide across over 5,000 meters.
These road works would be completed in a few weeks. More updates soon.
