Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) are the number one reason for deaths across the world and globally it causes more than half of all the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) related deaths. World Heart Day is, therefore, the perfect platform for the CVD community to unite in the fight against CVD and reduce the impact of this global disease.

World Heart Day celebrated on September 29 every year is aimed at creating awareness amongst people about various heart-related ailments and the biggest enemy of all- strokes! Around 17.9 million people across the world die every year from heart-strokes. With proper awareness and steps taken in the right direction, we can prevent the CVDs. Unhealthy diets, tobacco usage, sedentary lifestyle are just some of the factors behind at least 80% of premature deaths from heart diseases.

World Heart Day is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. Through this campaign, the World Heart Federation unites people from all countries and backgrounds in the fight against the CVD burden and inspires and drives international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the world.

On this World Heart Day, let us pledge to create awareness amongst our family and society on measures to stay safe from CVDs and inculcate good lifestyle habits. So, keep moving, eat healthy and stay away from habits like smoking and tobacco in any form to live a long and healthy life!
