The ongoing Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra has been a great way for me to connect with the people and understand their problems. For the past couple of weeks, I have extensively toured some constituencies and walked through various villages to reach out to the people.

The purpose of this Yatra as underlined by our Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi was to spread the message of ‘Bapu’ amongst the people. The whole world is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Bapu this year and there cannot be a better occasion for us to rise up and fight against various evils in the society. Among some of these evils, regionalism and dynastic politics are some of the greatest challenges that the two Telugu states are facing.

To help people out of this and to get to understand them better, Bharatiya Janata Party came up with this initiative of Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra and I must say I am delighted at the success this Yatra has been.

The Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra has been a tremendous success and the people of Andhra Pradesh have indicated that they are ready for a change and put a stop on certain groups which are obstructing the state’s progress.

Bharatiya Janata Party represents democracy in the truest sense where even a common party worker has a voice and can rise up to the highest of positions within the party. We have seen a Chaiwala become the Prime Minister, a feat that no other party could have facilitated. It was only because of Sri Narendra Modi’s focus and dedication to the cause of people that helped him to rise through the ranks.

This is the system that needs to be implemented universally where elected representatives are continuously striving for the benefit of the people and not for themselves or their families. Mahatma Gandhi always preached simplicity and asked the leaders to only work towards the welfare of the nation. This is a message that over the years has been forgotten by some leaders and Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra is a great way to remind them as well as the people of the teachings of Bapu.
