Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra

To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary this year, Bharatiya Janata Party organised a ‘Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra’ between 15-17th October 2019.

Participating in the yatra, I travelled across the Krishna district and interacted with a number of BJP karyakartas and people and saw a sea of support for the BJP everywhere I went. I started my ‘Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra’ started with paying my respects at the Gandhi statue at Jaggayapet following which I participated in a public meeting.

The ‘Padayatra’ that started from Jaggayapeta passed through the market yard road onto the national highway in the town and passed through Mangollu, Dachinenipallem, Makkapeta villages before ending in Penuganchiprolu. The BJP karyakartas gave us a grand welcome and brought end to the activities of Day one after a 20 KM long yatra.

The second day of our yatra began in the Anasagaram village in Nandigama. After a public meeting, the yatra started and we crossed through Ambarapeta, Aithavaram, Keesara villages and entered into my birthplace- Kanchikacherla. A grand rally was organised in Kanchikacherla and it was heartening to see women turn up to support us in huge numbers. A public meeting which was attended by more than three thousand people brought an end to the proceedings for the penultimate day.

The last day of the Padayatra started with the whole cadre in great spirits and energy. The yatra was centred around the Nuzividu constituency. The procession started at the Yanamadala village and passed through the RDO office and concluded at S Convention. The final day like the other days concluded with a public meeting where I addressed a large gathering. TDP leader N Venugopala Rao garu along with 500 of his supporters joined the BJP further strengthening the party’s popularity in the region.

Overall, the padayatra was an experience which brought us closer to the people and showed the strength and popularity of the BJP. The yatra was a memorable experience and I would again be touring the other parts of the state to get closer to the people from 20th of this month.
